The third edition of the eASIA series, eASIA 2008 will be hosted by the Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications (KTAK), Malaysia. The Ministry was established on March 27, 2004 following Malaysia's new cabinet line-up, hence replacing the Ministry of Energy, Communications and Multimedia.(pls delete. Instead, you may add- 'KTAK was also the host of eASiA event last year, which was inaugurated by Dato' Sri Dr. Lim Keng Yaik, the former Minister of Energy Water and Communications, Malaysia. The Ministry's role is to administer and manage the nation's energy, communications (infrastructure), postal services and water functions. The role of the Ministry has shifted from being a service provider to a policy formulator and service regulator for the Energy, Water and Communications sectors. The Ministry's main thrust is therefore to facilitate and regulate the growth of industries in these sectors to ensure the availability of high quality, efficient and safe services at a reasonable price to consumers throughout the country. The regulatory function of the Ministry is undertaken through its regulatory bodies, namely, the Energy Commission and the Communications and Multimedia Commission.
